Sadly, only 2,301 of these whiskeys were made, and even more sadly, at $431 a bottle they’re very expensive. With such a long and complex maturation process the final product, that’s bottled at a cask strength of 57.2%ABV – because why go to all that trouble and then dilute it, is a full bodied, spicy whiskey with a sherry influence that still retains the Jameson profile. These casks were then married with additional pot still whiskeys that had matured for over 21 years in first fill Oloroso sherry seasoned wine casks. It’s a blend of pot still and single grain whiskeys that were matured in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry seasoned casks for 18 years and then blended and re-casked into new ex-bourbon barrels for an additional three years. It’s available as a limited release for $300. It’s bottled in 500ml bottles at a cask strength of 56.4%ABV and is not chill filtered. The latest release of the 15 Year Old Single Pot Still Jameson is aged in American bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts. Most Jameson expressions are a blend of pot still and grain whiskeys, but this expression has pot still whiskey only. Pot still whiskey (meaning made with malted and unmalted barley) has become the signature style of Irish whiskey. Jameson 15 Year Old Single Pot Still – $300 These older bottles of Jameson are often up for sale at auctions or at here, and while you can hopefully buy one for cheaper, the highest price paid for a 1970s bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey is $287.84. Similarly, a bottle of Jameson Irish Whiskey produced in the 1970s at the old distillery in Bow Street, Dublin, will cost far more than one made more recently. But you do get a giant bottle of Jameson and in some versions it comes in a cradle that makes it easier for you to pour the whiskey. One 4.5 liter bottle at $185.37 is the equivalent of six 750ml bottles at just under $31 each, costing you about $6 more than had you bought six bottles separately for the usual $29.99 each. That’s why, despite the fact that Jameson Irish Whiskey is the cheapest of their expressions (as you can see from the table above), if you buy a 4.5 liter bottle of it, it will cost you much, much more. Obviously, the more you buy more of something the more it will cost, and this can become quite expensive even if the item in question is relatively cheap. Jameson Irish Whiskey 4.5 Liters – $185.37 Since you fill the bottle straight from the barrel, the whiskey is a cask strength – and therefore more flavorful – version of the Black Barrel, which is already more flavorful than the standard Jameson whiskey, as the Black Barrel expressions come from barrels that have more flavor compounds because they’re charred twice. The extra expense comes from the fact that it has a personalized label and that you bottled it yourself. Obviously $100 is less than $179.99, but it’s one thing to pay $179.99 for something that’s been aged for 18 years and bottled at cask strength, and quite another to pay $100 for something that’s usually less than a quarter of the price ($40.99). The 18 Years is very expensive because it’s been aged for almost two decades, and the Bow Street 18 Years is even more expensive because it’s been aged for almost two decades and bottled at cask strength. The three whiskeys in the Whiskey Makers Series are quite expensive, but the two 18 year old’s are very expensive. These are the main Jameson whiskeys and while half of them are quite cheap, the other half are quite and very expensive.
